Who we are
This website is run by Six Universal ("Six", "we", "us"), a business established in Williamsburg, Virginia, United States, with operations in Ghana. Six builds software and websites (Six Labs), handles cybersecurity (Six Shield) and does branding, design, content and small games (Six Studios).
If you have a question about your information, write to hello@sixuniversal.com.
What we collect
When you send the contact form: your name, email address, the areas you need help with, how soon, your message, and whether you said yes to marketing emails.
When you join the email list: your email address, the page you joined from, and the exact wording you agreed to with the date and time.
When you create an account: your name, email address and password, and your marketing choice. While signed in, we also keep the Six Labs Live ideas you save, the messages you send through the contact form, and your best game scores. Your password is stored by our account provider in a scrambled form that no one at Six can read.
When you visit: anonymous visit statistics, such as which pages were viewed, which site sent you, your browser and device type, and your country. These can't be used to identify you. See How we count visits below.
What we don't collect: payment details, government ID numbers, or anything from advertising networks. We will never ask you for a password or a sign-in code by email, text or phone.
How we use it
- To reply to you and talk about the work you asked about.
- To run your account and show you what you saved.
- To send marketing emails, only if you said yes.
- To understand which parts of the site are useful, using anonymous statistics.
- To keep the site and your account secure, and to stop spam and misuse.
- To meet legal obligations.
Marketing emails
We only send news, offers and promotions to people who ticked the box saying yes. The box always starts unticked.
Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also untick the choice in your account, or email hello@sixuniversal.com. We stop within 10 business days, and usually much sooner.
Messages about something you asked for, like a reply to your contact form or an account email such as a password reset, aren't marketing and are sent either way.
How we count visits
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service. It doesn't set cookies, doesn't follow you to other sites, and doesn't store your IP address. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, your visit isn't counted at all.
How long we keep it
We keep contact messages for as long as we need them to deal with your request and keep sensible business records.
Account information stays until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your profile, saved ideas, saved messages and scores straight away.
If you unsubscribe, we keep a record that you did, so we don't email you again by mistake.
Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can also stop marketing emails at any time.
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to delete it; to correct it; and to opt out of its sale or sharing (we don't sell or share it). We won't treat you differently for using these rights. Residents of other states with privacy laws, such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Texas, have similar rights.
To make a request, email hello@sixuniversal.com from the address you used with us, so we can confirm it's you. We reply within 45 days. If you have an account, you can also change your details or delete your account yourself on your account page.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of sale and sharing. Since we don't do either, nothing changes.
Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. You must be at least 13 to create an account or join the email list. If you believe a child has given us information, email hello@sixuniversal.com and we'll delete it.
Security
Pages are served over an encrypted connection. Each account can only read its own information, and passwords are stored scrambled. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that nothing will ever go wrong, but security is part of what Six does and we take it seriously.
Where your information is handled
Six works from the United States and Ghana, and our service providers may handle information in those countries and in others where they operate.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also say so on the site or email account holders.
